Víkingur x 66°North Charity Shirt
Shirt design for Víkingur's charity match in collaboration with 66°North. All proceedings from the sales of the shirt went directly to Ingvar Jónsson, Víkingur's goalkeeper, who got diagnosed with cancer earlier this year.
The jersey tells the story of Víkingur’s first Icelandic championship-winning team and its first competitive trip in 1921, ahead of that year’s Icelandic Championship. The team sailed to the Westfjords to play friendly matches against local teams, where the idea for what would become 66°North was born.
Its sepia-inspired colour reflects the photography of the era, while orange, part of 66°North’s identity since its first garment, the traditional fisherman's coat, serves a practical purpose: increasing visibility if someone falls overboard at sea.
The shirt raised more money than we hoped for and was featured in some of the biggest media in the world covering football shirts and football culture.
